the ten of oh nine |
10 of 09
but first, the outliers.
August Burns Red - Constellations | by far the best heavy record that has graced my ears in a long long time.
Future of Forestry - Travel II | a wonderful arrangement of clean lyrics and creative percussion. easily on of the most original sounds coming out this year
mewithoutYou - It’s all false… | really it was a great album. but it fails to overshadow the mwY of the past. might i say too happy? but getting past the veggie tales and the personified animals i find it a good listen.
and the list ///
10 | Say Anything - self titled
At the top of the list sits max and company with their release of self titled Say Anything. Say Anything have always found a way to articulate odd lyrics through a wide range of musical adventures and this album follows suite but with a little more hope and happiness stung throughout. a nice upside to their previous records.

09 | the Rocketboys - 20,000 Ghosts
the boys from austin keep getting better. their newest record is their best work by far and graced my car stereo for weeks on end this summer.

08 | the David Crowder Band - Church Music
i mean their really good for a christian band.

07 | Grizzly Bear - Veckatimest
these guys pretty much blow my mind. some of the most epic tracks of the year for me came off this piece. i will say though, for as dynamic the music they play - very boring live show. and to ruin your imagination, the guy who sings the angelic falsetto looks like the an evil gi joe character

06 | Brand New - Daisy
brand new rock. daisy pretty much kills, with brutal tracks and odd audio samples that remind me of high school punk records. in following devil and god, they did an amazing job of delivering another solid album.

05 | Paper Route - Absence
nashville boys do it right. i had the chance to go attend a release party for these guys last summer when they put out an ep. skipped and regretted. absence is solid work.

04 | Passion Pit - Manners
i really really like this record. i got a hold of manners early this year (before its release) off of a music blog and immediately fell in love. dance anthems and great beats. i think a few tracks now grace prime time commercials or something on tv. idk

03 | Neon Indian - Psychic Chasms
6669 is the jam. deadbeat summer - the jam.
find it - listen to it.

02 | Phoenix - Wolfgang Amadeus
my feel good album of the year. resurrecting from a single track that i could recall hearing a few years back. phoenix pretty much killed it with wolfgang. not a bad song to be found
01 | Manchester Orchestra - Mean Everything to Nothing
seriously the best album of the year. manchester has grown into this super band of raw rock, with brutal ballads and soft reality combed through to perfection. andy hull could loose a little weight, but he knows how to write some of the best music i have ever heard.
